KITCHENS & BATHROOMS

We take a holistic approach to solving problems you may have planning your next project.

A kitchen can cost as much as a car, so it’s important to spend time and money on getting kitchen fitters who can fit it properly.

When buying a kitchen, lots of kitchen companies will offer their own kitchen fitters but you may want or need to find your own kitchen fitter. Poor kitchen fitters can ruin a top quality kitchen yet an expert can make the most of a cheaper one. Obviously you want the best of both worlds - good cabinets and a professional installation. Units need to be fitted to a high standard to create a safe and attractive kitchen.

Some DIY enthusiasts tackle kitchen fitting themselves but it is not as easy as it used to be. When appliances simply plugged in and did not need fitting into cabinets, installation was within the grasp of those with reasonable skills.

For the modern integrated kitchen, kitchen fitters need a thorough understanding of safe layout, electrics and plumbing as well as carpentry, tiling and floor-laying skills. Gas fitting has to be carried out by a Gas Safe Heating Engineer and electrics work by a Part P registered electrician.

Hand Painting your kitchen is a multi stage process from the first scratch of sandpaper to the specialist wax varnish on the eggshell finish. A combination of degreasing primer and a primer for shiny surfaces with high grip are the starting point. This is the essential starting preparation for the more recognizable undercoat and eggshell that go on next to form the topcoats. The wax finishing varnish is final touch to make a tough, hard, durable, easy clean finish that will stand up to the daily rigors of being your kitchen.

Picking colors’ ... We find that trying to pick a color from a color chart really difficult and we deal with it every day. We have developed a simple solution. We have a huge range of colors painted up on A3 sheets to bring to your home so you can see them in situ.

Other important details: When we change the handles we fill the old handle screw holes with two pack filler and fine surface filler to make them disappear then re-drill for the new handles. We caulk in all the little cracks and gaps to make sure the final finished look is perfect. We rub down between the coats so the final feel is smooth and silky. We realign the doors and drawers to make them all straight and level.

If you want to reduce kitchen fitting costs then you could project manage the installation yourself - this way you also have full control. Consider buying the cabinets separately as this can also save money but make sure you don’t cut costs on kitchen fitters.

Kitchen fitters assemble and install kitchens in domestic and commercial premises. They fit cupboards, work surfaces, appliances, flooring and fittings. The kitchen is the heart of the home so if you are a planning a new kitchen, pay as much attention to checking out kitchen fitters as to choosing your cabinets.
